8,000 mobile towers of Telenor are ready to launch 3G

Telenor has said that they are ready to launch 3G services in the country with the help of their 8,000 cellular network towers.

Announced at a Press conference by Telenor’s Chief of Marketing Irfan Wahab and Corporate Affairs Chief of Telenor Aslam Hayat, the company was ready for roll out of next generation of mobile communications from 2013 when it upgraded its infrastructure network. It was told that this acquiring of 3G licenses made Telenor Pakistan fourth of Telenor Group’s six Asian operations with 3G.

Officials from Telenor boasted of successful leap into the 3G with 10 year of operations of the company in Pakistani Telecom market. Telenor expects that there will be increase in internet using user base among their currently held 35 million user base with introduction of 3G.

Free Telenor 3G internet available in Karachi, Lahore & Twin Cities

Telenor is offering its customers to enjoy free 3G internet on their Telenor SIMs in cities of Karachi, Lahore & twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Telenor has just recently won a license for 5MHz band at the auction held at Marriott Hotel Islamabad on 23^rd April for a price of $147.5 million. Although part of trial run that was started back in march, internet will be available on exquisite speeds by Telenor to its customers.

All you have to do is to dial *7799# to check that whether you are in coverage area of Telenor 3G trial or not. You might also want to check that you have a smartphone that is enabled to work with 3G technology.

Ufone launches first 3G TV ad, other companies follow too

Last night as soon as the official announcement was made by the Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Dr. Ismail Shah that all the 4 bidding telecom companies have won 3G licenses, marketing, PR and social media teams of these companies started thinking of executing their advertising plans about their acquirement of licenses for next generation mobile services. There are high expectation by masses for high speed internet and some amazing packages that will be launched along with 3G and 4G roll out.


Ufone that is the first to launch its TVC has a distinctive marketing team couples with some amazing ads, even launched a TV ad starring Adeel Hashmi, Mikaal Zulfiaqr and Ayaan Ali. They used a Lamborghini to show the fast speed internet that can be used via 3G license. Although Ufone has just acquired a 5MHz spectrum but still the ad showed that small slot to be a chance of riding a super speed racing car.

Telcos to Commercially Launch 3G Services With-in Two Weeks

After successful auction of 3G and 4G spectrum yesterday, each and every mobile phone user is now waiting for the commercial launch of 3G services in the country.

The information ProPakistani received yesterday revealed that despite winning the spectrum, the commercial commencement of 3G service may take a week or two at most.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said that it will hold License Award ceremony after operators will pay their remaining license fee.

“15% of earnest money is already with the PTA, while remaining license fee will be settled with-in a week or so”, said Dr. Ismail Shah, Chairman PTA, in an interview with ProPakistani.

3G / 4G Auction in Pakistan [Live Updates]

 

The day has arrived, 3G / 4G is finally happening in our country.

Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) has said that it has finalized all the arrangements for the Spectrum Auction for Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) to be held today.

Mobilink, Telenor, Ufone and Zong will be taking part in the bid to secure their 3G and 4G licenses.

As you may know that bidding will be done electronically through internet, all the companies will be allowed to log into the bidding system at 8AM, however, first round of bidding will start at 10AM.

The expiration duration of each bidding round will be 45 minutes or less. We will be uploading the results and other commentary on this live page regularly.
